Through a tailored therapeutic programme, consisting of mounted and un-mounted equine activities, we aim to support each young person's unique journey so positive progress can be made.
All while taking place in Equicare’s tranquil Ohāriu Valley setting.
Our mission is to provide high-quality equine-assisted therapy to uplift rangatahi by building connections between horses and humans. We are dedicated to creating a safe, inclusive, and compassionate space where children can connect with horses, build confidence, and develop essential life skills.

Our journey begins with a warm and welcoming meet and greet session. This initial meeting allows us to get to know the rangatahi and understand their unique needs and goals. It's an opportunity for kura, whānau, and rangatahi to ask questions and learn more about our approach.
An assessment is carried out after the initial meet and greet by our psychologist, this may involve conversations with whānau, kura, government and non-government agencies to help individualise sessions so we can support unmet underlying needs. A holistic or ecological approach, where whanau and other supports (such as kura) are encouraged to be a part of the process so new skills can be transferred and generalised to other environments. From there a plan is created and implemented.
With the plan in place, we embark on the care journey. Each session is designed to foster growth, healing, and connection alongside our horses. Rangatahi will engage in therapeutic activities that promote mental and emotional well-being, all within the serene and supportive environment of our farm.
Our amazing farm setting provides a peaceful environment where clients can connect deeply with nature and animals. Led by our registered psychologist, our tailored approach ensures that each client's journey is personalised to meet their specific needs.
